2018 is here! That means everyone is ready to make some changes. And if there is nothing in your mind for a year-long change, then you’re in luck we have formulated 6 good car care tips for 2018!
This may seem silly to some, but if you think about it your car is what takes you to and from work, school, and home, and a clean car is the best way to make a good first impression. So why not give it the love and care that it deserves.
1. Be on top of your tire and wheel condition
As most people know about winter in Colorado it gets very cold, and the last place you want to be on one of these days is outside on the side of the road fixing a flat tire.
To be safe and secure we recommend checking your tires for odd wear patterns weekly. Also, it is never a good idea to drive on tires with low pressure. It can cause sliding and can cause your tire to ware in unsafe ways, so always listen to your TPMS light and if you don’t have TPMS than when you check your tires for ware than we would say this is a good time to check the pressure.
2. Keep fluids topped off and in good condition
Is all of your fluids in your car full, Washer fluid, coolant, oil, and brake fluid? If not this is defiantly something that needs to be done. Now imagine this chilling situation, you are driving down the highway in a light snow and the car next to you throws water and mud on your windshield. No biggie right we just pull the lever and …. nothing comes out, you forgot to fill the washer fluid after your last trip. Now your driving 70 Mph with no vision.
Needless to say, this is a situation no one would like to be in. That is why having your fluids topped off is so important.
3. Keep the inside of your car clean
Nothing is more embarrassing than driving to pick someone up in a dirty car. The person you pick up is surely going to think you’re a slob. So pick a nice day and go outside and vacuum out all the seats, carpets, and mats. Wipe down the dash and windows to get the ball rolling. Then all you need to do is get a small waste basket for the trash you will surely have in the car. This helps to make recleaning the car a breeze.
And you’re a now sure to impress anyone from your sweetheart to your grandma. And always remember a good spray down on the outside never hurts.
4. Be proactive with symptoms
How many of us have been driving and feel an odd jolt and just write it off as a pothole? This is a very common thing people do when that jolt could really be bad spark plugs, a slipping transmission or something much much worse.
So make your car a promise you will both appreciate. Be more involved in the noises you hear or things you feel. it may just save you from the need to buy a new car.
5. Schedule at least three service appointments
Don’t be the person to think your car is invincible and needs no maintenance. Get your car checked out at least twice a year to be on top of problems and keep them under control and your car still driving down the road.
Getting your car serviced annually is a good way to catch anything before it becomes a big issue. It will also keep you on top of any incidents that do happen so they can’t take you by surprise.
